Butterflies of the genus Asterope (Callithea) are also highly priced by collectors and rare in older collections.

Butterflies of the genus Asterope (Callithea) occur primarly in undisturbed tropical forest in the Amazon Valley and spend most of their time in the forest canopy. They are attracted to rotting fruits, fish and mammal dung. Not much is known about their early stages. The main flight period during the day is between 10:00 am to 14:00 pm.
